yummy recipes

I really enjoy cooking. (It's the cleaning up after that I'm less fond of;). I consider it an art form and love making delicious meals that people enjoy. If they're healthy and affordable, that's even better!

My interest in cooking developed at a young age, even if the opportunity to practice wasn't always there. Since I was a child, I've always wanted a large family (six or seven at least--it used to be twelve!). In my mind, that many kids meant I would have to become an incredible cook. My maternal grandparents, the French's, as well as my parents have provided plenty of inspiration and encouragement for me as they are all excellent chefs.

Before college, I basically only knew how to bake. I was a great dessert-maker, but my cooking was pretty much limited to pasta and cereal. So before I left, I got my cute little recipe box out, brushed off the dust, and asked my mom to help me collect the recipes (or even just instructions) for making my favorite dinners. Over the years, I have collected many fabulous recipes which I use daily to feed my little (but growing;) family. I always name my recipes after the person who gave it to me even though I tend to change things and improvise a lot.

Watching Food Network shows like Chopped has also inspired me to experiment in the kitchen. Much to my surprise, almost all of my recipes turn out great! And that's coming from someone who judges her cooking very harshly. With several years of practice under my belt, I've learned that improvising isn't as scary as it seems.

I love to try new recipes and any suggestions or improvements on my own are welcome. Just leave me a comment below!

Happy eating & happy experimenting!
